Keeping kids safe doesn’t stop just because events have been cancelled. Trainings moved online, and progress continued on a major update to curriculum. Once the doors reopen and we can get together again, our parishes and schools will continue to be held to the highest standards of safety.

  • Hosted or co-hosted bi-weekly safe environment training classes for adults via Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Hangouts.
  • Hosted a Zoom meeting for 60 participants in English and 37 in Spanish for Religious Education Directors, Catholic School child safe environment coordinators and principals, to launch the new VIRTUS, Empowering God’s Children program that will be implemented July 1, 2020 for all children in all religious education programs in the Archdiocese. As of July 1, 2020 parishes and schools will use the same program.
  • Provided all Archdiocese of Denver priests with new comprehensive adult training handouts (in English and Spanish) at the virtual Presbyterate meeting. These handouts are in direct response to the Special Master’s Report and are now required material for all adult learners.
  • Provided ongoing virtual adult database training for new business managers and religious education directors, so they can continue to hire and manage staff and volunteers and maintain safe environment compliance.
